Here at Pettis Outdoor Living & Sauna we know you can’t bring your spa or sauna everywhere you go—but these helpful hints can help you relax and refocus in five minutes or less.

  1. Remember to Breathe
Taking a few moments to breathe deeply does wonders. There are a variety of ways you can control your breath to help lower blood pressure and heart rate.
  2. Write It Down
Grab a piece of paper—even just a scrap—and jot down your emotions. The act of writing them down can make them seem less intimidating. A great release!
  3. Nose Full of Coffee
Take a stroll to the nearest coffee shop and take it all in—the smells we mean! The odor of coffee can help reduce stress hormones—no sipping is even required.
  4. Drip Cold Water On Your Wrists
Did you know there are major arteries on your wrists and behind your earlobes? Next time stress hits head to the bathroom and drop some cold water on these spots. Cooling these areas can clam all of you down.
  5. Give Yourself a Hand Massage
Hand massages are especially helpful for people who spend a lot of time typing on a keyboard. There are 27 bones in the hand and all of those joints take a beating every day. Start by applying some lotion and kneading the base of the muscle under your thumb to relieve stress in the shoulders, neck, and scalp.
