You can swim 15 minutes after treatment
Poolife® AlgaePhos™ algaecide is a multi-action formula that prevents algae growth and reduces phosphate levels in your pool water. It is compatible with any type of pool sanitizer. We think this is a great product to use when first opening your pool to reduce phosphate levels which in turn decreases the primary food source for algae growth. We also recommend pouring it through a mesh safety cover to minimize algae growth before the pool is opened. When you have a mesh cover, algae can grow quickly due to the filtered sunlight passing through the cover once the temperatures start warming up. By using AlgaePhos your pool will be much cleaner at opening.

A Little About Phosphates
High levels of phosphates increase the likelihood of algae growth in swimming pool water and can enter the water from a variety of sources such as: decaying plant matter, fertilizers, stain & scale treatment chemicals, contaminated well water, contaminated soil, ground water runoff, bird droppings, bather wastes, urine and sweat.

Phosphate is a vital plant nutrient and its presence in swimming pool water, even at low concentrations, can cause accelerated algae growth. Pools that are properly maintained usually do not have unexpected difficulty controlling algae, even in the presence of a low level of phosphates. Higher levels of phosphates can make algae control more difficult and increase the amount of sanitizer required to maintain satisfactory control of algae.

It is recommended pool owners reduce modest levels of phosphates by treating the pool water with a phosphate-eliminating product. These products add another layer of protection against algae growth. Proper pool water maintenance is always the first line of defense. Testing for phosphates is not universal, but in cases where algae control is proving difficult, despite apparently ideal pool water conditions, testing for phosphates might be advantageous.
Pettis Pools & Patio offers FREE phosphate testing to help you find out if you need to treat your pool water for it. Stop in to either location today—we are happy to help!
