Pettis Pools Celebrates 50 Years of Backyard Fun

From beginnings as a “summer business” for two teachers to the top-rated pool company in the area

Pettis Pools & Patio turns 50 this year, and there will be deals, giveaways and celebrating all year long. Things kickoff with early buy specials and a $50 Pettis Fun Pass with the purchase of any pool, spa or sauna through February 29th. Beginning on June 20th (the first day of summer), Pettis will be holding “50 Days of Giveaways” featuring great pool, spa, patio and sauna items. Anyone (18+) can enter and there will be one drawing each day, for 50 consecutive days.

Vice President Julie Pettis says, “My parents started this business 50 years ago because they were both teachers looking for a way to bring in a little summer income. They began by answering a classified ad for a company looking for a pool dealer. I’m so proud of the business they created! Their hard work, integrity and passion created a business that, 50 years later, is still thriving. We employ 75+ people in-season and many of our core employees have been with us over 20 years.”

The family-owned, Rochester-based business has been voted “Rochester’s Choice: #1 Pool Company” for the past 10 years, they are Rochester’s only Aqua 100 Winner, and their Softub Express division is the largest dealer/distributor in the United States. Over the years, the company has been recognized over 25 times for excellence–locally and nationally.

Larry and Erma Pettis opened Pettis Pools & Patio in 1962, operating out of the family garage. By 1968, the first retail location was opened in Greece, NY, followed by an East Rochester store in 1987. They also have the largest Softub division in the United States and employ over 75 employees during the summer season. The family-owned company has been a leader in backyard fun for 50 years!
