Meditate in your spa

A home spa day is about taking the time to relax and focus on yourself and if you are one of the lucky people with a Softub, 5 O’Clock Spa or MAAX Spa at home, you are in for some ultimate pampering! Try these steps and turn your hot tub into the ultimate in-home-spa experience.

Lighting

Simply dimming the lights helps you be less aware of your surroundings and more inwardly focused. It creates a harmonious atmosphere to soothe the body, mind, and soul. If you don’t have your lights on a dimmer switch, try candlelight for a nice, warm glow.

Scented candles/incense

Aromatherapy can improve your physical and emotional well-being. Using certain scents such as lavender, chamomile, sandalwood, and mandarin help calm your nervous system and lower stress levels.

Relaxing Music

Music affects both thoughts and emotions. In fact, it has been proven that music helps lower blood pressure, anxiety levels, and even heart rate. Pick some of your favorite tranquil melodies to ease into a state of bliss.

Tips and tricks-make your own spa supplies

Loofah Scrub: Cut, fresh oranges in half and use the juicy side to slough dry skin off heels, knees, and elbows.
Essential oils: Here’s a good article about making your own essential oils.
Homemade spa recipes: This link has a whole host of ideas you can make with common ingredients.

Consider working in some light exercise

Here are a few of our favorites focusing on the head, shoulders and neck—where we carry much of our stress.
Neck: Sitting in your spa, gently try to lean your head toward your right shoulder then raise your head until it is in line with your body and repeat three times, then do the same for the left.
Shoulder and Neck: Sitting in the spa with your shoulders covered by water gently turn your head and neck five times to the left—and then once to the right. Stop for a minute then repeat but this time the other way round.
Shoulder Muscles: Sit in your spa with your shoulders under water and gently roll your shoulders backwards three times and then forward three times. Allow your arms to follow your gentle movements.
Don’t forget to set out your robe, fresh towels and slippers before you melt your stress away in your spa. Enjoy your home spa day and let your friends at Pettis Pools & Patio know all about it!
