A Reminder to Be Cautious
As the New Year is upon us, we wanted to post a friendly reminder not to drink or to use caution about drinking while you are soaking in your tub. Read on to find out why hot tubs and alcohol can be a risky combination.
Dehydration
- Alcohol dehydrates the body and so does sweating in a hot tub. Because there are two actions dehydrating you it may cause light-headedness, dizziness, nausea, or worse. Consider swapping your wine for a glass of water when you are in the hot tub.
Dizziness
- Drinking alcohol can cause dizziness, which makes it easier for you to stumble or fall—obviously not what you want to happen in or near a hot tub.
Sleeping or Unconsciousness
- The depressant effect of alcohol in combination with the high temperatures of a hot tub can cause you to fall asleep in the tub.
Body Temperature
- The heat in a hot tub expands your blood vessels and increases body temperature, as does drinking alcohol.
Here at Pettis Pools & Patio we know how great it is to be able to relax in your own home whenever you want, but keep these tips in mind so you have a safe hottubbing experience!
