Algae is no fun. It will destroy the beauty of your pool by causing cloudy, discolored water. It can even cause unpleasant odors! Algae growth is one of the most frustrating maintenance problems pool owners encounter.  Once it takes hold, algae can be extremely difficult and time-consuming to eradicate.  In this post, we’re taking a close look at the different algaecide products we carry and their best uses.

Poolife
The Poolife® brand offers an extensive range of algaecides that not only rid your pool of existing algae but prevent future algae blooms. Most of these products are non-foaming, do not require pH adjustment before use and work in 24 hours.
 
AlgaeBomb 30
This non-foaming maintenance algaecide is used to control the growth of algae in swimming pools, exterior spas, whirlpools and hot tubs. It treats green, black and yellow algae. Additions of 6 fl. oz. per 10,000 gallons should be made every 5-7 days.
 
AlgaeBomb 60
Yuck, is your pool green? This is the strongest liquid algaecide available. It is a non-foaming algaecide used to treat algae formation and growth in swimming pools, exterior spas, whirlpools, hot tubs, decorative fountains and synthetically-lined ponds that do not contain fish. You’ll also want to use a shock treat weekly with this application. Scrub and vacuuming to waste is advised. It is also ideal for winterizing your pool in the off-season.
 
Defend
Treats and prevents green, black and yellow algae, but also clarifies your pool water. Shake well before measuring out the required amount of product.
 
Algaeban II
A 90 day-copper based algaecide. Chelated (coated) for slow release of product. It is ideal for treating green, black, and mustard algae. This product can also be used as a preventative algaecide. Preventive dose is 16 fl. oz per 10,000 gallons of swimming pool water every 90 days.
 
AlgaePhos
This multi-action formula prevents algae growth and reduces phosphate levels in your pool and is compatible with any type of pool sanitizer. Add 16 fl. oz. per 25,000 gallons of pool water for the initial dose.
 
Bam
Pool Frog Algaecide is non-staining with low copper content offering 90-day algae-free protection. The bottle connects directly to the mineral reservoir.
 
Revive
This is an excellent initial water treatment that works to eliminate potential problems in new pools, openings, and well water pools. You can also use it as a superior spot treatment/flocculant to clean out phosphates (which algae feed on), copper, iron, scaling carbonates, organic debris or other clouding matter when you need to clear water fast and clear water sure. It can be used with all chlorine pools.

• Clears water of organic Debris
• Captures scaling Carbonates

 
Baquacil
BAQUACIL® Algicide
This is a liquid algaecide that’s proven effective against a wide range of slime and algae, including common types. Use a weekly 1 ounce application per 10,000 gallons.
 
BAQUACIL® Premium Algicide
A specialized algaecide used to prevent algae growth in BAQUACIL® pools. This is an excellent formula for persistent, recurring algae. Not for use in chlorine pools.
 
BAQUACIL® Performance Algicide
A non-foaming algaecide used to remove and treat current algae growth in swimming pools.  It is highly effective against all types of algae.
